Data for each key indicator are presented from 1995 forward, with an emphasis on mid-term and continuing rather than short-term trends. The information presented in the graphs and tables shown were obtained from published government and private sources, with the source of each data element indicated within the corresponding chart. The concept behind this simple visual analysis is to provide the user with a snapshot of the U.S. economy, with an emphasis on linking energy information (e.g., production, consumption, prices and trade) to the bigger picture of economic indicators such as the gross domestic product, gross national income, government expenditures, consumer confidence and price indices. For further information, please contact PNNL (Katie Cort) or visit the websites of the agencies and companies providing the source data, as identified within each chart.
